Mary Ablett, MSW, LCSW is a licensed clinical social worker who has a psychotherapy practice in Jacksonville, Florida. She is also co-founder of the Psychotherapy, Training, and Education Center, Inc. (PSYTEC) who has offices in Jacksonville, Florida and Atlanta, Georgia. Mary has over 20 years experience in the mental health and human services fields. She has worked in the private and public sector as well as inpatient and outpatient psychiatric services. She has worked with a wide range of issues and populations, which include children, adolescents, and adults. Mary received her Master Degree in Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. Mary is an active member of the National Association of Social Workers, Texas Chapter and received the Social Worker of the Year Award, Georgia Chapter, in 1996.

Philosophy:
My philosophy comes out of a family systems approach to therapy. A system approach emphasizes the interrelatedness of ones relationships. I seek to work with the client in a strength-focused and client-centered manner. I utilize both a cognitive/behavioral approach and solution focus approach to therapy. I seek to be a facilitator in helping the client build a contract of goals as we explore beliefs, perceptions, attitudes, thoughts, and feelings. I also focus on helping the client build strong skills in communication. The client assumes personal responsibility in the resolution of issues. I seek to provide a safe environment where a client can freely explore their issues so that positive and lasting change can occur.
